“… Shema grew up in a refugee camp in Rwanda, learned how to play the game there, and showed up on our training field one day with some of his friends. He’s a really talented kid who just loved the game and wanted an outlet. His passion and emotion shone through to the point where, as a goalkeeper, he would become absolutely devastated whenever he’d get scored on. We built a strong connection over time, as coaches and players can in good and healthy relationships. He’s now 22, a Marine, and he’s graduating college. He’s an unbelievably outstanding person who I can tell has grown and matured so much from his experience at PCFC, and he’s said he would not be where he is now without us.”
